Westaff is seeking a Patient Accounting Specialist for a Children’s Hospital in Helena, MT!!
Schedule : M-F, 8am-4pm
Permanent position for the right fit!
Pay : $17.91 / hr
Duties :
- Analyzes and interprets account data to facilitate timely claim and payment resolution. Escalates issues to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
- Posts payments and adjustments utilizing the appropriate fee schedule, policy and / or procedures in accordance with patient statements, remittance advices, insurance carriers, electronic downloads, etc
- Identifies credits, variances, and trends. Escalates issues to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
- Completes account maintenance review to ensure account information is accurate within EPIC and other systems.
- Acts as a Patient Accounting liaison between patients, clients, providers, payers, vendors and other Shodair Departments.
- Interprets EOB message codes, validates payer processing and identifies potential payment discrepancies.
- Effectively manages assigned work in accordance with team expectations, department productivity and quality standards.
- Works directly with the Patient Accounts Representative on self-pay issues and is a resource for that position.
- Participates in team meetings and activities. Contributes to the goals of the department and organization, while focusing on continual improvement of processes.
- Participates in the prior authorization process. This includes but not limited to : working the entire prior authorization, providing information to UR to complete the prior authorization, and following up on denials related to prior authorization issues.
- Cross training within the department to ensure all Patient Accounting Specialist can perform all required tasks.
- Responsible for other Business Office functions. as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Must have minimum of three (3) year billing experience in a hospital or medical office setting, five (5) years is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information while maintaining professionalism and diplomacy.
- Possess and maintain computer skills and competencies in Microsoft Office and other computer programs. Prior experience in EPIC preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to stay calm in difficult conversations.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities, meet deadlines and work independently.
- Basic understanding of HIPAA guidelines, and other applicable law.
- Criminal Records Background Check, Negative drug test.
Education :
- Required education and experience Requires high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Preferred education and experience Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Preferred candidates will have (3) year experience in a hospital or medical office setting.
