Why This Job
CMC is currently seeking an Energy Manager. The Energy Manager's primary function will be to negotiate and manage electricity and natural gas contracts / agreements / programs for CMC facilities and to promote / support energy policy important to CMC before legislative bodies, regulatory authorities, utilities, and other external bodies.

What You'll Do
- Support the electricity and natural gas needs of CMC facilities
- Build a strong working relationship with our operations and other internal partners
- Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers, strategic energy partners, and regulatory consultants, including utilities, energy suppliers, renewable energy developers, regulatory bodies, and industry associations
- Monitor and analyze energy markets, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors to identify opportunities and mitigate risks related to energy prices and supply
- Negotiate (with the authority and participation of local CMC management) all major electricity and natural gas agreements & programs in both regulated and deregulated markets (Commodity and Delivery)
- Negotiate interruptible and demand response programs for both electricity and natural gas
- Interact with appropriate legislators, legislative bodies, regulators, and regulatory bodies regarding energy issues
- Interact with utilities, suppliers, providers, and trade organizations (TIEC, AEEC, SMA, etc.) in promotion of CMC energy positions
- Work directly with legal counsel (internal and external) regarding energy issues
- Moderate travel to be expected
What You'll Need
- 5+ years of experience in energy management with a strong focus on natural gas, electricity, and renewable energy
- Understanding of the specific energy load characteristics involved in steel production and other metals-related activities
- Specific experience in regulated electric energy markets
- Specific experience in deregulated electric energy markets (PJM, ERCOT, California)
- Specific experience with the acquisition of natural gas supply and transportation
- Interaction with legislative, regulatory, and other external bodies
- Experience negotiating Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and / or Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs)
- Ability to read, comprehend, and negotiate energy agreements
- Proficient with global energy markets, regulatory environments, renewable energy technologies, and onsite storage opportunities
- Experience participating in cross-functional teams and leading energy-related projects
- Motivated initiative-taker with good judgment and the ability to effectively interface with all levels within the company including C-Suite executives
- Capable of interacting with a wide range of individuals both internally and externally
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are needed to reduce complicated / complex pricing programs to terms understandable by CMC leadership and operations personnel (both in written and verbal)
- Ability to use Excel and other modeling software to source data and prepare analysis of large data sets to assess unique pricing structures, renewable energy investment opportunities, and other energy-related programs
Your Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related discipline
- Advanced degree in a related field is preferred
