We're seeking dedicated individuals who can adapt to different locations throughout the week, providing top-notch care and support.

Key Responsibilities : Provide compassionate direct care and support Evaluate behaviors, monitor progress, and implement applied techniques Implement program and service outcomes effectively Ensure the safety of individuals by monitoring the environment and addressing problem behaviors Utilize non-violent interventions and positive support strategies as needed Address healthcare needs and administer medication as assigned Coordinate and accompany individuals to appointments Assist with household tasks and meal planning Document daily progress notes, behavioral notes, and incident reports Participate in community activities with individuals served Collaborate with the Designated Manager to develop supports and outcomes Attend required training, staff meetings, and 1 : 1 supervision Teach, coach, and model essential life skills, communication, and social skills Practice coping skills with individuals served Assist with self-care needs and encourage independence Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications : To be considered for this role, you must meet one of the following criteria : Hold a 2-year degree in Psychology, Human Services, or a related field AND 3 years of experience working with individuals with Intellectual / Developmental Disabilities / related conditions with high behaviors, behavioral health, or psychiatric care, must be able to provide training transcripts.

OR hold a 4-year degree in Psychology, Human Services, or a related field AND 1 year of experience working with individuals with Intellectual / Developmental Disabilities / related conditions with high behaviors, behavioral health, or psychiatric care, must be able to provide training transcripts.

Or possess a 2-year degree in a behavioral science or related field (e.g., mental health, psychology, social work, special education, speech pathology, or occupational therapy) OR have 2 years of experience working with individuals with IDD / related conditions, including high behaviors, in a behavioral health or psychiatric setting, plus 50 hours of education and training related to human services and disabilities Additional trainings, certifications, and leadership experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis Desired Skills and Experience : 1+ year of experience managing high behaviors (biting, hitting, kicking) 1+ year of experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and chronic medical conditions 1+ year of experience implementing Positive Support Strategies and / or behavior management techniques Strong communication and documentation skills Experience with person-centered thinking and planning is preferred Ability to interpret behavioral trends, make sound judgments, and handle crisis situations Demonstrable knowledge of vulnerable adult laws, 245D statutes, and other relevant state regulations Ability to pass a background check from the MN Department of Human Services Valid Driver’s License, working vehicle, and clean driving records Good attendance and adaptability Must be willing to work in any city with all IHSS Staff.

Preferably be able to work in all residential homes, but not required. Training : Hennepin County first responder course Mental Health First Aid Crisis line providers (Dakota) Suicide hotline training Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Trainlink Crisis Interventionist trainings Motivational interviewing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Homeless training Severe Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) diagnosis Trauma-informed care Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills Physical Requirements : Frequent walking and occasional stair climbing Support individuals with transfers and lifts (up to 40 lbs occasionally) Frequent reaching and gripping with hands Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching Environmental Factors : Work 1 : 1 at the individual's home on an ongoing basis Frequent public contact and driving Possible presence of pets at the individual's home Why Join Us?
