Coordinates patient care by working collaboratively with theinterdisciplinary team, patients and families.# Communicates, asappropriate, the patient clinical condition, responding quickly andaccurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and developmentover the life span and the skills necessary to provide ageappropriate care to the patient population served.

Promotes theprofession of nursing and professional practice through collegialsupport and interactions. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION : Must be a graduate of an accredited schoolof Nursing and have and maintain a current Registered Nurse licensein the State of Connecticut.

Must have certification in Basic LifeSupport (BLS) upon hire or within 3 months of hire. Obtain AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified within one (1) year ofcompletion of hire into position;

Pediatric Advanced Life Support(PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 2 years ofhire into position and maintain certification while employed inthis position.

COMPETENCIES : Must be able to communicateeffectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Possessesbasic computer skills.

Must be capable of taking swift andefficient action, including patient restraint when responding topatient emergency codes.

Documentationreflects assessments, interventions and evaluation ofeffectiveness. Develops and revises individualized plans of care asindicated by assessment and patient response to treatment.

Evaluates overall plan periodically for effectiveness.# Involvesthe patient and family in the formulation of goals. Follows theseven (7) medication rights and reduces the potential formedication errors.

Demonstrates knowledge of medications and theircorrect administration based on age of the patient and theirclinical condition.

Performs all aspects of patient care in anenvironment that optimizes patient safety and promotes positivepatient outcomes.

Documents the nursing process and responses tocare in a timely manner utilizing the appropriate tools.Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and functionunder stressful situations.

Accurately assigns triagecategories. Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and correctlyinterpret the results.# Demonstrates knowledge of cardiacmonitoring;

identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately.Demonstrates knowledge of airway management procedures and theability to utilize appropriate equipment.
