Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist supports payroll processing and invoicing functions at the PTi Corporate office. This position works closely with other departments, such as A / P and A / R, Human Resources / Benefits, and Executive Management for the proper payroll and job costing support.
Essential Functions :
- Prepares and processes multi-state and international payroll for all employees in accordance with established local, state, and federal regulations
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of payroll submissions
- Reviews, verifies, and maintains time and attendance and payroll records
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Processes changes in withholding, personal information, deductions, direct deposits, position changes, wages, garnishments and levies, and department / division transfers
- Processes employees leave in accordance with Exempt, SCA and CBA policies and procedures
- Prepares and sends checks for employee garnishments and levies
- Onboards new employees into applicable systems
- Addresses and resolves questions and requests from employees, supervisors, or the corporate team in a timely manner
- Supports year end and annual functions such as W2 distribution, internal and external audits, record rotation, or contract year changes
- Maintains payroll records in accordance with applicable regulations
- Remains current on new legislation and regulatory rulings that impact payroll and ensures compliance
- Ensures compliance to internal payroll guidelines and procedures
- Prepares reports as needed, on schedule, or by request by compiling summaries of earnings, hours, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
- Participates in related audits, such as 401k and benefit audits, full financial audits, and DCAA audits
- Protects personally identifiable information within the payroll department
- Supports PTi's QMS, Safety, Environmental, and Security Programs, and other Company certifications and initiatives
- Serves as a back up to additional payroll and accounting responsibilities
- Projects and other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications
Experience :
- Minimum of one (1) year of payroll processing experience
- Experience using the Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Skills :
- Ability to analyze information using principles of payroll processing
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
- Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential information and maintain confidence
- Must demonstrate the ability to effectively read and write in English, comprehend written instructions, perform common mathematical tasks, and communicate effectively
Certificate, License, Registration, etc. :
- US Citizen
- Must possess or be able to obtain a secret security clearance and military Common Access Card (CAC) within 30 days, if required
- Completion of company mandated training applicable to position
- Possess a valid Driver's License
Education
Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

This position reports to the PTi Accounting Manager and works closely with other departments, such as A / P and A / R, Human Resources / Benefits, and Executive Management for the proper payroll and job costing support.
Essential Functions :
- Supports payroll process to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of multi-state and international payroll for all employees in accordance with established local, state, federal regulations
- Maintains payroll records in accordance with state and federal directives
- Remains current on new legislation and regulatory rulings that impact payroll and ensure compliance
- Ensures payroll guidelines and procedures are followed for accuracy
- Coordinates electronic timekeeping system and compliance
- Tracks employee's PTO balances in accordance with Exempt, SCA and CBA policies and procedures
- Updates and maintains payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department / division transfers.
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
- Supports internal and external audit processes and requests
- Participates in related audits, such as 401k and benefits audits, full financial audits, and DCAA audits annually
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests from employees and managers in the field
- Protects personally identifiable information within the payroll department
- Supports PTi's QMS, Safety, Environmental, and Security Programs, and other Company certifications and initiatives
- Other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications
Experience :
