The Advanced Programs (AP) section is responsible for the design, integration, testing, and support of advanced technologies for new and derivative engine concepts.
Technology focus areas include military inlet & exhaust systems, integrated propulsion power & thermal management systems, advanced material systems, and other breakthrough component and system technologies to support the future of military flight.
The AP - Aerodynamic Design Lead Engineer will contribute to the aerodynamic design and development of GE's Edison Works new product offerings including augmentors and supersonic exhaust nozzles.
Responsibilities will focus on the conceptual design, maturation, integration, and testing of exhaust aero systems and technologies.
As a Lead Engineer, you will drive design efforts with guidance from experienced team leads and technical experts in a mission-based team environment.
Opportunities to collaborate with and direct small team and cross-functional efforts will develop through the maturation of the design.

Job Description
As a Lead Engineer - Aero, you will :
- Develop and execute with guidance the analysis, design, test, and integration of novel exhaust aero design concepts to meet the needs of our customers.
- Implement lean standard practices applicable to aero design for exhaust systems.
- Recommend productivity improvement strategies to exhaust systems aero designs.
- Ensure proper documentation in a timely manner following all engineering policies and procedures.
- Monitor and communicate project status updates to relevant leadership team members.
- Present or review key technical review presentations to ensure engineering excellence.
- Actively participate and support Tech Reviews, Tech Community activities, and relevant Design Board meetings and subcommittees.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or closely related field of Engineering.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant aero design experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active US Government security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering related to fluid mechanics preferred
- Prior experience in the fundamentals of aerodynamics and compressible flows.
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Experience with design and analysis software such as Siemens NX, Ansys Workbench, Ansys CFX, Ansys Fluent, Python, etc.
- Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional teamwork environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Fundamental understanding of augmentors and exhaust nozzle system design.
- Familiarity with aero design, tools, and processes.
