The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is looking for a senior public affairs specialist to support public outreach and communication from the Kansas City headquarters.
This role is highly collaborative, and you will build and maintain relationships with the Bank’s internal and external audiences.
As a key member of the team, you will work under the guidance of the district outreach director to achieve the Bank’s outreach goals, while managing and implementing the public outreach strategy for Kansas and Missouri.
You will work closely with the Kansas City Regional Executive, who leads regional economic research initiatives regarding key industries and community issues in the Kansas and Missouri economies and coordinates strategic outreach initiatives to enhance the Bank’s connection throughout the 10th District.
This work will continue to build the Bank's reputation as a trusted source of research and insight and promote understanding of complex financial issues within the region and across the nation.
You will identify public engagement opportunities and coordinate logistics with stakeholder groups across the region to support the Regional Executive.
In addition, this role will work with colleagues in the Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Omaha and Denver offices on internal and external communications and content strategies, current events and reputational risks, while consulting on messaging and media preparation.
What You’ll Do :
- Develop, maintain and support reputation and relationship management, internally and externally.
- Provide strategic communications counsel and support to public affairs internal partners.
- Manage regional executive speeches by scheduling, preparing and providing logistical support.
- Identify and implement new opportunities for programs, partnerships or events to further the Bank’s strategic priorities in public outreach and relationship management.
Sets benchmarks and evaluation methods for success.
- Write content for multiple external and internal digital platforms, including the Bank’s website, intranet, social media, and email marketing channels.
- May compose and deliver speeches to internal or external audiences.
- May serve as support for media relations and government relations engagements.
- Develop strong relationships with colleagues and team members.
- Contribute to Public Affairs initiatives and objectives across all Kansas City offices, including Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Omaha and Denver.
- Support the use of contact management software and leverage data to track engagement opportunities and identify future engagement opportunities.
- Engage with stakeholders across Missouri and Kansas to highlight the value of the Federal Reserve and develop connections across the two states.
Up to 20% travel may be required.
What You Bring :
- At least 6 or more years of relevant experience, including developing and executing strategic communications plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and / or experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, web content management, and project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience in AP Style, copy writing, storytelling and content development.
- General understanding of the Federal Reserve and its role.
- Familiarity with social media and content management systems, customer relationship management tools and media monitoring tools.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and web design tools.
- Comfortable speaking to groups of all sizes.
- Experience engaging with business communities in Missouri and / or Kansas.

Pay Range : The starting pay range for this position is $57,600 to $100,200 for the job level(s) required for this position.
Final offers are determined by factors including the candidate’s qualifications, internal alignment considerations, district assignment, and geographic location.
