Since 1987, the Conservation Corps of Long Beach (CCLB) has worked to help youth realize their potential while serving the Gateway Cities area.
As a state-certified Corps, CCLB is positioned to offer its Corpsmembers access to a variety of environmental work experiences while also facilitating personal development opportunities.
More than 12,000 youth and young adults have benefitted from our unique program, and over 1,500 have received a high school diploma while working with us.

Mission The primary mission of the Conservation Corps of Long Beach is to support young people in realizing their potential through work, service, conservation, and education.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, or Field Coordinator, the Supervisor I is responsible for the day-to-day direction and training of a crew of 2-14 young adults, aged 18-26 years, in a variety of work and educational activities.
Essential Responsibilities :
Supervision :
- Under the direction of a Project Coordinator or Field Coordinator, the Supervisor I will supervise all or part of the crew in its daily routine, instruct corpsmembers in the necessary skills to complete work projects, monitor safety, and ensure efficient use of tools and materials.
- Maintain discipline, positive crew morale, build teamwork and cooperation among corpsmembers to ensure that the rules and regulations of the CCLB are upheld.
Work Project Implementation :
- Supervise crew or portion of a crew in the completion of work projects, which might include building refurbishment, tree planting, landscaping, litter abatement, graffiti removal and prevention, neighborhood improvement, historical preservation, park development and maintenance.
- Responsible for safe work practices, proper use and maintenance of tools, vehicles and equipment. Responsible for quality control of work.
Reporting Procedures :
- Prepare oral and written reports of work projects, corpsmember evaluations, incident reports and documentation of corpsmember attendance, participation and work hours under the instruction of a supervisor.
- Counsel, motivate and discipline individual corpsmembers as appropriate under the supervision of a supervisor. Participate in staff and corpsmember meetings.
Driving / Vehicle Inspection :
- When necessary the Supervisor I will drive the crew to and from the work site and to and from the education site.
- Make appropriate vehicle inspections
- Adhere to driver policy
Reporting Procedures :
- Prepare oral and written reports of purchases, maintenance schedules, expenses, corpsmember evaluations, incident reports and documentation of corpsmember attendance, participation and work hours.
- Counsel, motivate and discipline individual corpsmembers as appropriate.
- Participate in staff and corpsmember meetings.
- Assist with preparation project reports by way of uploading statistical information and work project photos.
Required Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of principles of safety, use of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of methods of group instruction and motivation.
- Ability to properly discipline corpsmembers, keep records, prepare reports and communicate effectively with young adults under the supervision of a supervisor.
- One year of experience in working with young adults from a diverse background OR training through the CCLB as a Corpsmember Specialist, Driver or Crew Leader or other leadership position.
Other Duties and Requirements :
- Must be able to perform physical exercises, heavy lifting and manual labor.
- DMV print-out, Class C Driver's License with Endorsement (effective July 2017) or Class B Driver's license (or able to obtain within 90 day of employment) and First Aid / CPR certification is required as a condition of employment (or within 30 days of employment).

Salary and Benefits :
- $19.11 per hour - $22.93 per hour (Salary Grade 11) (reflects the entire pay range) based on a level of experience and education that exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale (salary range).
