Portland Public Schools is a public employer and participates in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS / OPSRP). Eligible employees are required by statute to contribute 6% of salary on a pre-tax basis to OPSRP / IAP, after serving six months under a PERS employer.

About the role
This posting is for
part-time
Roving Assistants who work on days when school is in session for students, Monday to Friday. This position requires the ability to report to all locations within the Portland Public Schools District (City of Portland), so flexibility is essential.
Assistant Rovers receive continued assignments throughout the school year, working up to 5 hours per day.
Assignments are made via phone call between 6 : 00AM - 6 : 30AM.
Shifts vary and are typically from 2 to 5 hours daily, scheduled between 7 : 30AM and 2 : 30PM.
Additional optional summer work options are available (not guaranteed).

You’re able to work quickly and efficiently following verbal and written instructions
You’re able to lift up to 50 lbs.; push or pull 70-100 lbs.; use a full range of motion at standard height work stations;
able to work in uniform
You’re able to receive directions in English over the phone and at the work site.
You’re able to work with money and make changes while serving.
You’ll maintain a current Multnomah County Food Handler's Certification (not required at time of hire but needed in order to begin work).
You have basic computer skills and the ability to work with a computerized cash register.
You’re willing to travel to all schools throughout the district
