Position Summary Orlando Health is seeking an experienced Environment of Care Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the system-wide Environment of Care (EOC) program and activities.
The successful candidate will play a crucial part in aligning EOC strategies with the organization's goals, overseeing the EOC Council, and ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and team members across all Orlando Health facilities.
Key Responsibilities : Develop and align EOC strategies with organizational goals. Plan, organize, and direct system-wide EOC programs and activities.
Assist in establishing and integrating EOC programs in new or acquired facilities. Manage the development, approval, and revision of EOC policies and procedures.
Coordinate EOC tracer program and oversee surveying tools and resources. Respond to external EOC-related surveys and inspections from agencies such as AHCA, CMS, and TJC.
Collaborate with corporate subject matter experts on various EOC elements. Provide consultative guidance to hospital departments based on EOC survey results.
Act as a liaison with external enforcement and accreditation agencies. Schedule Mon-Fri 7 : 30am-4pm Responsibilities Essential Functions Develops and aligns the EOC and LS strategies to the goals and objectives of the organization.
Plans, organizes, and directs the system wide Environment of Care (EOC) programs and activities to include, but not limited to, oversight of EOC Council function;
revision and evaluation of management plans annually; coordination and management of the processes for continually monitoring and internally reporting EOC related data, and oversight of EOC and life safety survey activities.
Assists the Corporate Director develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, guests, and team members of all Orlando Health facilities.
- Manages and oversees the development, approval, and revision of EOC policies and procedures. Plans, organizes, and directs the development and implementation of surveying tools and resources to perform regularly scheduled surveys across Orlando Health facilities;
- to include, but not limited to EOC operations and Life Safety (LS) surveys. Manages the overall operations of the team to ensure coverage, workflow, positive work environment, work assignments as required to meet operating needs;
ensures completion of tasks assigned to team members according to established deadlines, coaching plans, hiring and disciplinary actions.
Coordinates and manages the EOC program as it relates to the Emergency Management and Life Safety chapters contained in the Joint Commissions Hospital Accreditation Standards.
Coordinates and manages the development and / or revision of required regulatory education related to the EOC and life safety for new hire and annual mandatory education programs.
Maintains the Statement of Conditions with The Joint Commission on behalf of the organization. Works closely as an Orlando Health liaison with local outside planning and enforcement agencies (i.
e. Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), local Fire Department(s), and The Joint Commission (TJC)). Responds to and attends external life safety (LS) surveys at hospital buildings to include, but not limited to, Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), Fire Marshal / Inspector, etc.
Works collaboratively with department directors having responsibility for functions within the EOC (i.e. clinical engineering, engineering, infection prevention and control, safety, and security).
Provides consultative guidance to hospital departments with concerns or issues arising from EOC and LS internal surveys and external inspections.
Understands the need to be current and possesses skills to review and summarize federal, state, and local regulations that effect the environment of care and life safety at Orlando Health.
Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Collaboratively assists the Corporate Director in budget estimates, control expenditures, and establishes operational standards for the Safety Department.
Maintains professional discipline in the departments and adherence to appropriate policies and procedures of the department.
Works closely with the Risk Management Department to document, investigate and develop plans that prevent or minimize incidents relating to the Environment of Care that expose Orlando Health to liability.
Stays informed of evolving technology, new standards and regulations related to safety and makes appropriate recommendations to implement improvements.
Qualifications Education / Training Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Business Management or a related field required.
Experience Eight(8) years of progressively responsible management experience in safety, life safety, or a related field.
