Job Summary
Provide financial, accounting, and other technical analysis and interpretation of Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) budget.
This public service position provides an opportunity to affect the planning, development, and implementation of services provided by Driver & Vehicle Services to Minnesotans and to further the goals of the Department of Public Safety.
This position is responsible for the analyses of financial management functions, reconciling, and reporting required to manage operational budgets within DVS.
The incumbent coordinates the aspects of multiple revenue sources, develops and documents processes and controls, develops and maintains dashboards and reports, audits / monitors receipts and expenditures, and provides input and analysis to the annual budget process.
The incumbent will work closely with DVS and other DPS senior leadership to ensure ethical and productive management of financial resources.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience performing analysis and exercising judgement in accounting, finance, budgeting, auditing or related area.
A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited school in Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Finance or closely related may count toward one year of experience.
- Experience with the State of Minnesota's SWIFT system or other large scale accounting / budget system (please identify systems).
- Experience with standard business software programs (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
- Strong human relations and communications skills sufficient to convey complex concepts, procedures, and decisions to high-level internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to critically review, research and evaluate complex financial and budget issues under time constraints.
- Experience in conducting training, facilitating professional meetings, and providing formal and informal presentations.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently.
Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require position to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
