About the Role
The Human Resources Generalist will provide assistance in the general administration of the Human Resources Department. This includes supporting human resources and administrative activities such as pre-employment screening, onboarding, HR specific ADP database maintenance, file maintenance, and general support to employees to ensure compliance with company policies, in addition to applicable state and federal regulations.
This also includes assisting in the research, development and implementation of new or revised HR programs as well as assisting in the ongoing management of existing programs in coordination with ADP Comprehensive Services.
The position requires prior knowledge, experience and skills in Human Resources.
What You'll Do
- Organizes and maintains employee files in accordance with company policy. Retains records in line with company record retention requirements.
- Responsible for on-boarding and off-boarding employees, including processing all new hire / termination paperwork and providing basic orientation.
Will also be responsible for conducting new employee training and / or periodic retraining when necessary.
- Maintains office bulletin boards to provide employees with pertinent company and facility information and updates and ensures that all required state and federal posters are displayed.
- Provides prospective and current employees with information regarding policies and procedures, job duties, health benefits, time off requests, opportunities for promotion, and general work expectations.
- Provide support to the field with the progressive discipline process.
- Works closely with the Human Resources Manager to ensure compliance with HR processes, procedures and policies, and assists with company initiatives, and new programs.
- Assist with coordinating unemployment insurance claims and hearings.
- Serve as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions and helping to resolve work-related conflicts in a timely and fair manner.
- Assist the Human Resources Manager with the administration, coordination and development of employee benefit programs, such as group health, 401(k) and voluntary benefit programs.
Also assist with the development, implementation and management of compensation and other employee programs.
- Assist with the performance evaluation process and work with managers and employees to address performance issues.
- Assist with the annual Open Enrollment process and assist with the communication materials for all employees.
- Assist with reporting and annual EEO-1 reporting.
- Provide back-up to the job posting and job requisition process.
- Assist in new employee orientation and welcoming new employees to Turtle & Hughes.
- Assists with the exit interview process and turnover analysis.
- Support the administration of Turtle & Hughes Philanthropic initiatives.
- Complete employment verifications and income verifications.
- Determine FMLA eligibility, send paperwork and track employees on leave.
- Review monthly invoices for drug tests, backgrounds.
- Coordinate the random and quarterly DOT drug testing process.
- Generates HRIS reports on a regular and ad hoc basis. Such reports include :
- Headcount reports,
- New hire and termination reports,
- Employee turnover,
- Drug test reports,
- Other reports as requested
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in HR.
- Must have good knowledge and understanding of federal and state employment law and regulations.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must have excellent time management skills and be detail-oriented.
- Must maintain confidential information.
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
- The ability to gather and present data to leadership in a clear concise manner.
- Experience working with ADP / Workforce Now
- Experience with ADP Comprehensive Servies a plus.
- Experience working in a multi-location environment.
- Strong understanding of labor laws and regulations.
- Experience with collective bargaining agreements.
- HR certification preferred (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
