Job Summary :

The Contracts Coordinator position is a paralegal or contracts professional whose primary responsibility is supporting the legal function of the Company's Autoimmunity and Whole Blood and Hemostasis business units, located in San Diego, California.

This positions reports into the Assistant General Counsel for Autoimmunity and uses professional judgement in performing the contracting, administrative, compliance monitoring and reporting obligations and procedural functions as outlined below.

This position works independently under general direction, with little supervision. Ensures activities are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and all applicable Quality Management System requirements.

Responsibilities

Key Ac c o un ta b ili ti e s

C ontracts and Matter M an ag m e n t :

  • Reviewing, drafting, and obtaining signatures for routine contracts based on Werfen legal templates.
  • Assisting the Assistant General Counsel with non-routine, non-templated contracts, statements of work, and exhibits.
  • Responding to contract questions from business partners and, with the oversight of the Assistant General Counsel, providing contract analysis and summaries with solution focused, actionable advice.
  • Serving as the initial and primary point of contact for business partners on new matter intake, including tracking such new matters, answering initial questions, in collaboration with the Assistant General Counsel.
  • Maintaining the company's contracts management data base.

A d m in is t r a t io n :

  • Tracking and processing legal department invoices.
  • Providing office administrative support to the Assistant General Counsel and other members of the legal team, as needed.
  • Serving as the primary source of corporate legal information for business partners and actively helping to validate corporate legal information in forms, agreements and other documentation.
  • Willingness to obtain a notary certification.

C o m p lia n ce :

  • Supporting compliance projects and initiatives, including :
  • Assisting with the monitoring and reporting of Sunshine Act transparency transactions for the Autoimmunity business in collaboration with the Compliance Manager.
  • Assisting with the development, editing, organizing, deployment and tracking of compliance training content and related communications and informational session materials with the Werfen Compliance Manager.
  • Assisting business teams with the management, organization and retention of all relevant compliance documents and records.

General :

  • Performing other duties as requested and as needed to support a global legal department and global business.
  • Complying with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), International Organization Standardization (ISO), US Food and Drug (FDA), and other applicable Quality System requlations, as well as applicable Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Human Resources and all other company policies.

Ne t w ork in g / Ke y R elationships

The Contracts Coordinator will report to the Assistant General Counsel for Werfen's Autoimmunity business located in San Diego.

This position will also work closely with the Werfen legal team globally. This position will also work on a day-to-day basis with senior leaders, directors, managers, other business partners of Werfen's Autoimmunity and Whole Blood and Hemostasis business units.

In addition, the position will work cross functionally across departments, including with members of Werfen's Human Resources, IT, Finance, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, compliance, research and development, business development, marketing, manufacturing and supply chain teams.

Qualifications

M inimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting legal teams in an in-house corporate legal department or equivalent experience.

Ex p er ie n c e :

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience supporting legal teams or equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance laws and regulations preferred.
  • Experience in the IVD, medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech industry preferred.
  • Paralegal experience, Contract Management, Compliance Analyst or equivalent work experience is plus.

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree a n d / o r making exceptions to the years of experience req u i r e m e n t .

Salary Range

$95,000 - $125,000 per year

  • Experience working with employees of different seniority levels, including, but not limited to, senior management.
  • Highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills required (eg, DocuSign, and Microsoft Office suite).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Spanish language (reading, writing) ability is a plus
