Job Title : Activities Assistant
Job Summary
Provides group and one-to-one therapeutic recreation to all program participants.
Essential Job Functions
- Guides, directs, and monitors participants during group activities to assist in maintaining or surpassing his / her social, emotional, cognitive and physical levels of functioning
- Assists Director with activity planning as needed
- Maintains documentation in a neat and legible manner
- Deals appropriately with the special needs of participants and their families
- Reports any abnormal signs and / or symptoms to Nursing Manager / Supervisor and the Department Director immediately
Job Requirements
Education :
- High School Diploma
- Associate’s Degree preferred
- Training in Therapeutic Recreation is desirable
Experience :
A minimum of one year experience presenting activities to an aging population desirable
Licenses / Certifications :
N / A
Abilities Required
- Friendly, outgoing, positive personality
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of the work group, and participants
- Sensitivity to the needs of an aging population
- Computer knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of documentation desirable
