Job Overview
The Senior Claims Assistant contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by supporting the claims department by managing a wide range of administrative and clerical tasks.
This role involves maintaining accurate records, gathering and recording information from customers and vendors for the purpose of establishing new claim reports, and providing excellent customer service to claimants, members, and other key stakeholders.
The Sr. Claims Assistant also acts as a mentor and resources to Claims Assistants, ensuring adherence to company policies, processes, and procedures.
Compensation : Depends on experience and varies by location.
Colorado Compensation :
- The pay range for this position is $20.97 - $29.78 per hour, depending on experience.
- This position is considered non-exempt for purposes of wage-hour law, which means you are eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek or more than 12 hours in a workday.
Nevada Compensation :
- The pay range for this position is $22.02 - $29.78 per hour, depending on experience.
- This position is considered non-exempt for purposes of wage-hour law, which means you are eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek.
Washington Compensation :
- The pay range for this position is $20.97 - $28.36 per hour, depending on experience.
- This position is considered non-exempt for purposes of wage-hour law, which means you are eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage Medicare indexing, Compliance, and ongoing reporting requirements
- Conduct ongoing specialized projects pertaining to compliance needs and regulatory requirements
- Enter new claims reported via telephone, fax, email or web / mobile into claims system (ClaimCenter)
- Answer calls to the claims department
- Identify, sort and distribute Claim Department documents
- Conduct data base searches
- Ensure successful transmission of documents to vendors
- Perform clerical duties, such as filing, faxing, copying, and scanning
- Within a limited scope, interpret policy wordings and determine policy coverage
- Evaluate relevant information from sources such as appraisers, third party adjusters, contractors, and repair facilities in order to validate the cost of losses
- Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system and governmental regulations
- Provide exception customer service
- Serve as a mentor to Claims Assistants
- Performs other duties and specialized projects as assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in claims administrative / clerical office experience required
- Proficient experience and familiarity with Medicare processes and reporting requirements
- Completion of High School or equivalent
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office skills
- Good customer service skills
- Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Good time management and organization skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
