What You'll Do :
The Safety Compliance Specialist will provide corporate-wide oversight to a centralized DOT safety process for the Vulcan Materials Company divisions and corporate office.
The Safety Compliance Specialist will be responsible for auditing driver qualification files, compile new driver applicant qualification files, and use software to confirm and validate all DOT processes to ensure FMCS compliance.
Position will interact with all levels of the organization on a routine basis including members of the senior management team.
He or she will also work with division operations and safety employees to coordinate and manage and ensure Vulcan Materials driver files with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Responsibilities :
Auditing driver qualification files to ensure compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and compliance with company hiring criteria.
This is achieved by ensuring the driver qualification file is accurate, legible, and complete.
- Assessing the proper accountability for improper or missing Driver Qualification documentation and assessing the proper accountability for the hiring of unqualified drivers.
- Performing audits of scanned driver qualification files. Preparing reports detailing efficiencies and deficiencies of DQ files audited.
- Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
- Compiling and reviewing driver applicant qualification files to ensure Vulcan and DOT compliance.
- Utilizing recruiting software (verification program) to confirm and validate drivers DOT employment history to include drug / alcohol results, accident history and reasons for termination.
- Systematically updating our applicant tracking system to ensure candidates, recruiters and training locations are up-to-date and aligned on candidate status.
- Some overnight travel will may be required (5 - 10%).
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need : Education :
Education :
Bachelor's degree in health and safety, industrial hygiene or engineering prefered, not required.
Experience :
- 1 or more year's relevant experience required, including the compliance responsibilities of DOT driver files.
- Experience in background and employment information.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities :
- Knowledge of DOT compliance, analyzing driver logs, worker's compensation, managing drug / alcohol program and maintaining driver qualification files.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Oracle Business Environment and other software packages relevant to the position;
basic office equipment. Ability to learn software programs as required for the position.
- Strong multitasking, time management and organizational skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Absolute integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
- Possess the ability to budget time, set priorities and maintain an awareness of the relationship between activities.
- Complete tasks with attention to the smallest details.
- Ability to conduct orientation and post orientation of new employees.
