Description Are you looking for an opportunity to provide electrical support to the elite research center in the Baltimore / Washington area?

Do you have experience with construction and electric distribution equipment? If so we are looking for someone like you to join our team! We are seeking an Electrician to assist with installing, maintaining, inspecting, testing, performing alterations and repairs to building wiring systems, electric distribution equipment and electrical components of other systems across the enterprise.

As an Electrician you will... Replace, repair, and install various electrical fixtures and equipment. Inspect existing electrical fixtures and equipment for malfunctions or defects.

Test completed work for accurate performance, and ensure compliance with The National Electrical Code. Work from schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings and create as-built drawings as needed.

Disconnect, remove, and disassemble electrical equipment and components of electrical systems Use formulas basic to the trade to figure voltage and resistance determine the size, types, and gauge of wiring conduit, couplings, fittings, relays, controls, and distribution panels Employ splicing, soldering, cutting, tapping, and taping techniques in performing electrical service and unit maintenance.

May participate in multi-skill activities, in support of other trades, to meet customer requirements. Install electrical services and equipment (electrical panels, switches, magnetic starters, and receptacles) for new offices and facilities on the campus.

Install, pull, and splices wiring (e.g., #14 AWG up to 750 MCM) for electrical panels, switches, receptacles, magnetic starters, lighting fixtures, and control wiring for motors, generators, air conditioners, heat pumps, computers, and plant machinery.

Assist in the installation of low-voltage (480 V or less) switchgear and transformers (.5 to 112 KVA) for APL internal power distribution.

Occasionally provide electrical construction support at field test sites. Work the hours of 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM. Adjusted or additional hours may be required during peak work load time and occasional weekend support for customer driven outages.

You will apply APL vehicles in the course of day to day operations. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications if you.

Possess a High school diploma, or the math and language abilities equivalent to that of a high school graduate. Have completed formal trade school training in at least one of the following : Electronics, Electrical maintenance and construction, or related discipline or have at least two years of relevant on-the-job experience in the trade or a combination of both.

Possess trade-related math skills needed for this level of work, be able to follow wiring diagrams, and have a command of written and spoken English.

Possess a State of Maryland Journeyman electrician license Are able to demonstrate skill in the use of trade hand tools and a wide variety of test and measuring equipment, an understanding of how various circuits, equipment, and controls operate, fit, and work together, and know the appropriate usage of various gauges, sizes, and types of wire, conduit, couplings, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers, and other electrical devices.

Possess a valid state-of- residence driver's license. The selected candidate will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record check.

Be able to set up, use, and adjust electrician's hand, power, and hydraulic tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, hacksaws, soldering irons and testing / measuring devices such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and ammeters.

Are able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information.
