Description of Position
As a Fitness Instructor at Movement Climbing, Yoga + Fitness, you will be charged with planning and executing classes in a safe, efficient, and attentive manner.
Every instructor will work symbiotically with other team members and the gym leadership to create and maintain excellent offerings that well-serve the members and guests of Movement Climbing, Yoga + Fitness.
For the above position, you are supported by the Assistant Gym Director and Gym Director of the facility.
Overall Responsibilities
Fitness instructors are responsible for ensuring that every student who participates in a class has an enjoyable, safe, and educational experience.
While your focus is on fitness class(es), you must have familiarity with other programming that is offered as it relates to climbing, yoga and personal training.
The fitness instructor position is responsible for :
- Being on time, which includes arriving with enough time to prepare for class
- Instructing high quality classes, which includes tracking attendance and notes, some administrative work, and clean up
- Communication between Movement and the participants in each class, when applicable
- Attending all scheduled meetings with the Fitness Department staff
- Attending all scheduled meetings for the Movement staff-at-large, including the biannual full staff meetings
- Maintaining proper certifications
- Finding a substitute for any class missed
- Understanding and abiding by the Movement Employee Manual
- Adhering to the Movement dress code policy by wearing professional and appropriate attire
- Keeping the Fitness Program Manager and Gym Director appraised of any issues that arise at the facility when you are working
- Exhibiting exceptional people skills at all times
Specific Time Commitments
We expect each fitness instructor to work a minimum of 1 class per week, in addition to subbing (as applicable). Depending on demand, a fitness instructor may work additional classes when they are available.
We are specifically recruiting for instructors for weekday mornings (6 : 15am)
This role requires an active group fitness certification, or relevant degree in fitness.
