Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Management :
- Oversee and manage the school's overall financial health, providing the principal with regular updates.
- Serve as a member of the school Administrative Team and board Finance Committee, offering strategic financial guidance.
- Coordinate with outsourced service providers to ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting services.
Budgeting & Financial Planning :
- Work with staff, department chairs, and administration to develop the annual operating can capital budget.
- Review and analyze financial reports prepared by providers, including budget-to-actual variance and cash flow projections for capital and operating accounts, and present them to the Board and principal.
- Develop capital and operating forecasts to support informed financial management decisions.
Financial Reporting & Analysis :
- Ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial statements prepared by outsourced providers.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, offering insights and recommendations to the Board and administration.
Collaboration & Communication :
- Meet regularly with department chairs and heads of offices to discuss the status of budgets and financial matters.
- Partner with the advancement team regarding the collection of capital campaign pledge payments.
Year-End Closing & Audits :
- Coordinate with outsourced providers to ensure a smooth year-end closing process and the accuracy of financial records.
- Collaborate with the Board Treasurer and outsourced providers to oversee the completion of the annual audit and preparation of the annual 990 report.
General Ledger & Compliance :
- Maintain oversight of the General Ledger for the corporation, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping by outsourced providers.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including tax filings and audits, in collaboration with outsourced providers.
- Manage tuition assistance distribution and monitor tuition accounts, meeting with families as needed to address delinquent accounts.
- Coordinate with the Dean of Academics, Registrar, and Director of Enrollment regarding financial holds for re-enrollment or the release of transcripts.
Cash & Risk Management :
- Manage cash flow and investments, ensuring adequate liquidity and alignment with financial goals.
- Oversee risk management activities, including insurance coverage.
HR & Payroll Oversight :
- Ensure payroll and benefits align with financial strategies and comply with regulations.
- Manage all HR functions
QUALIFIECATIONS
- Degree in Accounting or professional training in financial management
- 5+ years of experience in financial management, with at least 2-5 years in a leadership role
- Knowledge and experience in 501(c)3 accounting, tax and finances, tuition programs, payroll, property tax, 990 filings, and capital project management
- Working knowledge of employment law, sound hiring practices, and administration of benefits
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Strong interpersonal and professional relationship-building skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Knowledgeable and supportive in word and action of the school's mission, vision and educational philosophy
- Implement mission of the school through witness
- Represent the school in a positive way on and off the school campus
