Quality Engineer II

This role is part of the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin's design, manufacturing, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health, and safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement processes.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will apply standard engineering techniques to evaluate product conformance through the execution, optimization, and validation of quality processes.

This requires verifying product and process conformance, root cause and corrective action analysis, nonconformance disposition, hardware acceptance planning, and design verification.

Establishes quality standards for products and processes and suggests modifications meant to prevent defects in components or final products.

Works closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management, and production, to identify and mitigate quality risks.

Audits production processes, raw materials, or suppliers / vendors to ensure that established quality standards are met.

Conducts root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures. May be responsible for ensuring compliance with formal external quality standards, such as ISO 9001.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in development and production environments
• Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals
• Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
• Perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100
• Participate in engineering design reviews and make recommendations to improve the quality and manufacturability of new designs
• Recommend and improve initiatives and / or changes that will improve product and system quality
• Provide quality assurance domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test for the Manufacturing team
• Collaborate with internal and external customers on quality related concerns; develop and present training materials to build quality awareness.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. in engineering
• 2+ years of Quality assurance experience in production environment.
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management System and / or related quality systems and programs
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.

S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry experience in aerospace, space launch, military / commercial aviation or similar industry preferred.
• Knowledge of subassembly and final assembly of aerospace hardware.
• Knowledge of Weld and NDT practices
• Precision Measurement Science fundamentals
• Proficient in the fundamentals of GD&T.
• Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
• RCA fundamentals
• Quality assurance experience in rocket engine production environment
• Quality Management System audit experience
• Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification
• Material Review Board experience
