Director of Student (Youth) Ministry

Job Summary :

The Director of Student Ministry will primarily provide spiritual leadership to junior high and high school students, helping them discover and develop an active relationship with Christ.

Some of the main activities where the Director will provide leadership are : Youth Group, Sunday School, Confirmation, Summer Camp, Small Group Bible Studies, and Local Service and Mission Experiences.

The Director of Student Ministry, depending on skill set, may also be a support person for other ministries within the church such as worship, technology, social media, kids, small groups, visitation, preaching, missions, etc.

Essential Functions :

• Implement a comprehensive student ministry for students, grades 7-.
• Provide leadership for spiritual formation, worship, mission and fun.
• Develop relationships with students and their families by engaging with them outside the church walls.
• Communicate with students and their families using email as well as social media.
• Develop volunteers for support and involvement within the ministry.
• Work collaboratively with other ministries of the church.

Other Responsibilities May Include :

• Participate and provide leadership in Sunday morning / special worship services.
• Provide assistance with the technology used to operate a Sunday morning service.
• Assist with increasing the church’s social media presence.
• Participate in and help lead church small group ministries.
• Be one of a team of pastoral partners responsible for visitation.
• Be part of a creative team in the development of a sermon series and small group curriculum as well as preaching on occasion.
• Assist in coordinating and leading mission opportunities and trips for the congregation.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Committed follower of Christ
• Bachelor’s degree or related experience
• Experience in working with and leading student ministry

Full-time is preferred but consideration would be given to candidates willing to work part-time.
