Treatment Services Coordinator

Position Summary

The Treatment Services Coordinator conducts initial assessments and service planning including the identification of appropriate treatment programs, coordination of necessary referrals, and provides reports on treatment progress.

The incumbent is responsible for facilitating the placement of individuals that Judges have authorized a release to inpatient treatment for substance use disorders.

The Treatment Services Coordinator reports directly to the Residential Placement Manager.

Duties :

• Works in collaboration with the Courts to receive and review referrals for treatment using computer-based systems.
• Collects information from databases within the jail and courts that is vital to the full assessment of treatment needs and comprehensive criminal history.
• Conducts standardized assessments of treatment needs and insurance coverage with defendants / incarcerated individuals.
• Identifies treatment providers appropriate to the level of treatment required in each instance. Treatment providers may include community-based providers, jail-based services, or alternative housing-based services.
• Engages providers that serve the defendants / incarcerated individuals by promptly resolving issues that arise and by communicating regularly and professionally.
• Arranges providers' assessment of defendants / incarcerated individuals both in jail and by video or telephone links.
• Develops an initial service plan with defendants / incarcerated individuals, including terms of participation and consequences of non-compliance.
• Uses database to support processing and tracking of referrals and placements.
• Arranges transfers to treatment with jail and provider staff.
• Monitors the progress of individuals in treatment and reports progress to court and officers of the court, including failure to comply with the conditions of the program.
• Maintains positive relationships with the treatment providers and serves as their liaison to jail operations.
• Makes referrals to other services, when appropriate, including Justice Related Services.
• Helps to establish and maintain policies and procedures for the diversion program.
• Prepares memos and reports to administrators.
• Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of :

• Correctional program services and security policies.
• Pa Title 37 regulations.
• Motivational interviewing skills.
• American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessments.
• Substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and effective treatment approaches and resources.

Skill in :

Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

Residency : Not required to live in Allegheny County
