Salary : $119k-225k depending on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.

Sunflower Bank is looking for an experienced Director of Fixed Income Strategy to provide leadership and strategic direction for internal and external constituents.

This position will sit at our Denver, CO branch.

Summary

In collaboration with the Investment Policy Committee, the role determines overall strategy and application of fixed income solutions for client accounts.

The Director position has oversight of fixed income holdings in client portfolios and provides day to day management of accounts.

Ongoing supervision related to credit quality, duration and general alignment with the client’s investment policy statement are central to the role.

The ability to identify and understand industry trends is expected to ensure overall portfolio allocations are consistent with current standards.

Product development may be expected in the role as warranted by the growth of the bank’s clients.

As a leader on the Wealth Management team, the role will serve as a voice communicating both our strategic outlook as well as reinforcing the firm’s capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set overall direction and strategy for the fixed income process.
  • Oversee fixed income holdings within client accounts.
  • Prepare monthly reports on performance and markets for the Investment Policy Committee.
  • Identify opportunities to broaden fixed income allocations and products for discretionary accounts.
  • Develop and manage in-house investment grade fixed income strategies.
  • Assist the Investment Management team in due diligence of fixed income fund managers to include comprehensive attribution analysis.
  • Serve as a resource to Wealth Management’s relationship managers in fixed income-related business development opportunities.
  • Analyze and enhance the firm’s electronic fixed income trading process.
  • Work with the Operations team in overseeing fixed income trading activity.
  • Create and support market related collateral for both internal and external use.
  • Create quarterly market commentary and support ongoing market commentary collateral development.
  • Help maintain current policies and procedures.
  • Ability to verbalize and easily explain complex strategies in terms clients may understand.
  • Deliver high quality presentations and clearly convey wealth management issues, investment philosophy, and range of investment and non-investment solutions that are relevant to the client.
  • Manage controllable expenses of the Wealth Management department within targeted profit plan levels.
  • Practice and maintain fiduciary accountability and risk management.
  • Review cash report for available funds in fixed income related accounts.
  • Monitor Wealth Management policies on an ongoing basis for regulation compliance.
  • Understand the bank’s mission, organizational structure, employee orientation guide, bank security, policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Maintain profitability of Wealth Management client relationships.
  • Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.
  • Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
  • Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • Masters in Business Administration (MBA) required.
  • CFA designation required.
  • 20+ years of related experience required.
  • 5 or more years’ experience managing discretionary accounts within a bank trust department with a focus on high-net-worth clients.
  • Must possess a high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to read situations accurately.
  • Must have a professional appearance and manner.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to meet the tempo of a focused sales culture.
  • Expected to participate in ongoing Sunflower Bank, N.A. seminars and training dealing with Wealth Management sales, marketing, and compliance.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Must be bondable.

Working Conditions

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
