Summary

The Chief Perfusionist reports to the Chief Perioperative Operations Officer CPOO . Under general supervision, the Chief Perfusionist is responsible for the management and coordination of patient care to include personnel and fiscal activities.

Direct responsibility for the management of the perfusion team; to include management of staff’s call and work schedules to ensure 24 / 7 coverage of perfusion services for both pediatric and adult patient populations, a regular cadence for staff meetings, timely communication, development of unit goals to include yearly staff evaluations and feedback for staff development.

This role will work collaboratively with Heart & Vascular ICCE, Periop Business Director and CPOO to develop and implement one-three and five-year strategic plans Program growth, labor resources, capital planning, etc.

This role also provides clinical support to monitor and control extracorporeal circulation devices during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery and other related procedures as required to support or replace the cardiopulmonary / circulatory function of a patient.

Chief Perfusionist will serve as clinical call back-up, as needed. This position represents the department and hospital on committees.

Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical / non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings.
