Technical Services, Drafting, Design, & Detailing

TASSCO is a provider of specialty alloy steel wear plates and a manufacturer of custom fabricated wear solutions. TASSCO’s customers consist of a diverse set of industrial end users requiring high quality materials and services that help lower overall maintenance costs.

The technical services drafting position is responsible for preparing TASSCO’s production drawings for manufacturing. Position requires proficient use of AutoCAD Mechanical.

Employees will have day to day interaction with manufacturing personnel, inside sales & estimating team, customers, and TASSCO’s outside sales team to prepare accurate manufacturing drawings for TASSCO products.

Tasks & Duties :

• Interpret and understanding of written job requirements to visualize and transfer ideas into shop production drawings.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure designs meet technical specifications and standards.
• Understand steel fabrication and machine shop practices to recognize capabilities and limitations of equipment and raw materials when designing products.
• Effectively communicate with other TASSCO employees, customers, and salespeople to provide information and guidance professionally regarding design specifications and job requirements.
• Conduct quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry regulations.
• Coordinating order details with members of the TASSCO manufacturing team.
• Maintain accurate records of drawing files and changes in TASSCO Technical Files.
• Convert detailed parts to .dxf files and process programming software for output to TASSCO CNC cutting machines.
• Demonstrating and improving upon product and service knowledge and capabilities to improve TASSCO’s business opportunities with new and existing customers.

Required Skills :

• 5-10 years of experience utilizing design and drafting practices for steel plate & structural steel components in a manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency in Autocad, AutoDesk.
• Knowledge of plate steel development and fabrication.
• Proven ability to read and understand drawings.
• Bachelors or Technical Degree in related field.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, welding, and CNC machining.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot design issues.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills :

• Mechanical and experience with Autodesk Fusion 360 modeling.
