At Forvis Mazars, we view state taxes as an opportunity to save. In this position, you will look for opportunities for savings in the area of state and local taxes (SALT).
Our SALT team has extensive training in tax accounting, tax law, compliance, audits, economic development benefits, and experience with tax laws in many states.
Our SALT solutions apply to sales and use taxes, income and franchise taxes, property taxes, credits and incentives, and many more thorough understandings of multi-state sales & use taxes.
How you will contribute :
- Identifying optimal filing options
- Analyzing and reviewing apportionment information
- Supervising client engagements
- Planning and researching tax issues
- Preparing technical memorandums
- Providing audit assistance
- Assisting with state income tax compliance
- Assisting with developing and supervising staff accountants
We are looking for people with Forward Vision and :
- Understanding of multi-state income and franchise taxes
- Understanding of nexus and revenue sourcing issues
- High-level analytical and reasoning skills
- The ability to meet the stringent deadlines of our clients
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
- An ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and experience levels both verbally and in writing
- Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 5 years or more of professional experience preferably in public accounting
- Proficient with OneSource income tax preparation software and ONESOURCE tax provision software preferred
- Current CPA, J.D., or L.L.M designation preferred

New York City Pay Transparency
Pursuant to the pay transparency laws of New York State and other local ordinances within the state including (but not limited to) New York City, the salary range displayed is for the New York markets.
The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Total compensation and benefits consist of salary, group health plan benefits, 401(K), profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave.
FORVIS reserves the right to make changes to the salary range based on business needs.
