REPORTS TO : Tax Partner
SUMMARY : The Tax Senior Associate will play a critical role in preparing and reviewing tax returns, supporting tax planning initiatives, and assisting with compliance for individuals and entities.
Senior associates may also supervise work of 2-4 tax associates or interns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Tax Preparation & Compliance : Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations (C-Corp, S-Corp), and other entities, ensuring accurate and timely filings.
- Tax Research : Conduct tax research on various client issues, including emerging tax regulations, multi-state tax filings, and specialized tax scenarios.
- Client Interaction : Assist with client inquiries and provide recommendations on tax-related matters. Communicate directly with clients to gather necessary information and address any concerns.
- Tax Planning : Support tax planning strategies for individuals and small to mid-sized businesses, helping identify tax-saving opportunities and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Team Collaboration : Work closely with the Tax Manager and other senior staff to ensure efficient workflow. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness.
- Process Improvement : Assist in identifying opportunities to streamline the tax preparation process and improve the overall efficiency of the tax department.
- IRS / State Compliance : Assist in resolving tax notices and support tax audits by gathering documentation and preparing responses to tax authorities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Directly supervises 2-4 tax associates or interns within the tax department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities may include training employees, and planning, assigning, and directing work.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) and at least two years of related experience.
- Computer skills required : Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with UltraTax CS is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent licenses are preferred.
