Position Overview
Student office assistant provides administrative support to faculty, staff, and researchers at the KU airport facilities north of Lawrence.
Normal hours are 10 hours / week during the semester and up to 40 hours / week during breaks.
Successful candidates will have strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as being self-motivated, reliable, and able to work diligently.
Job Description
Perform clerical tasks; including, filing, data entry, copying, scanning, drafting, and editing documents.
Assist with purchasing and creating purchase orders.
Coordinate with other departments including CReSIS, the Shared Service Center, and Engineering TSC.
Point of contact concerning Flight Research Lab operations.
Coordinate with department office manager and laboratory coordinators.
Schedule meetings including in-person and virtual.
Maintain office supplies and equipment, including audio / visual and printers.
Assist in the coordination of flight tests.
Required Qualifications
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must : have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester orbe pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours orbe enrolled in summer session orbe admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
Student Hourlies may be for undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA / GTA / GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)
- Minimum KU GPA of
- At least 1 year experience with office work, MS Office, and MS Outlook.
- Have source of transportation to airport facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3 months experience with customer service and Adobe DC.
- Student majoring in a business field.
- Work Study student.
