Controls Engineer - West Virginia Specialty Firm

A Clarksburg WV area manufacturer is seeking an Controls Engineer to lead the design, modernization, and installation oversight of control systems for specialty equipment in the metals industry.

As Controls / Automation Engineer the focus is on developing and implementing cutting-edge automation solutions to optimize performance and efficiency.

Automation Engineer Requirements :

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (with I&E / control system emphasis), or equivalent is required.
• Proficiency with PLCs and automation practices is expected.
• Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell RSloigx5000 is preferred.
• Familiarity with WinCC and Wonderware InTouch HMI systems is preferred.
• The ability to apply engineering principles to solve design problems is essential.
• The capacity to work independently with minimal supervision is necessary.
• Willingness to travel for project support is expected.
• Excellent communication and computer skills are required.

Automation Engineer Responsibilities :

• PLC-based automation control systems are designed and deployed, integrating motion control, sensors, VFD drives, and actuators.
• Ongoing support for existing systems is provided, troubleshooting and ensuring seamless functionality.
• Level 1 control systems are programmed based on function descriptions and layouts.
• Collaboration with project teams, internal experts, and customers to engineer solutions for technical challenges.
• Comprehensive testing and simulation of systems are conducted prior to delivery.
• On-site commissioning and training sessions are executed as required.
