Major Responsibilities :
- Performs noninvasive cardiodiagnostic procedures
- 1)Ensure that all non-invasive tests are performed properly to provide accurate results for analysis by the Cardiologist.
- 2)Ensure timely response to all code blues, red traumas and STAT EKG's.
- 3)Ensures routine EKG's are performed as requested by units
- 4)Ensures quality application of 24 hour holter monitor, scans results, and notifies cardiologist with any gross abnormalities
- 5)Alleviates customer anxieties through explanation of procedure, and offering support for any concerns.
- 6)Assists in staff development by mentoring and coaching peers.
- Maintenance of departmental logs, equipment, records, and exam rooms.
- 1)Provide updated, documentation and logs of all special procedures for Quality Assurance / Process Improvement.
- 2)Answers phones and greets customers in a professional and courteous manner. Conveys messages accurately.
- 3)Types customer reports as needed and files in a conscientious manner.
- 4)Prepares patient room for on-going procedures
- 5)Communicates equipment issues to clinical leader
Education / Experience Required :
High School diploma. Three (3) years experience in special non-invasive cardiology procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Ability to perform blood pressure readings. Ability to identify cardiac arrhythmias and grossly abnormal EKG's and MI's.
Ability to do electrocardiographic recording
Registered or Certified status within one year of employment. CPR certification
Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions :
- Ability to work on 7-day per week rotational schedule. Ability to make independent decisions in emergency situations. Maturity to handle emergency / crisis situations.
- If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06 / 01 / 2015.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
Unique patient lifting / movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Addendum : Additional Information : The EKG Tech II must exhibit a high degree of Cardiac Arrhythmia knowledge and skills related to cardiac procedures.
Ability to work independently and make decisions to provide physicians with diagnostic scans. This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, i.
e. : understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
