Digital Optics Technologies, located in Rolling Meadows, IL, is seeking to immediately hire a scientist / engineer to work on research and development projects granted by the Department of Defense and NASA.

Digital Optics Technologies develops a wide range of photonic and atomic technologies including laser control systems, ring laser gyroscopes, atom interferometers, holographic multiplexers, and integrated photonic circuits.
The new hire will be expected to design and run tabletop optics experiments, write technical reports and grant proposals, and manage research projects.
An ideal candidate is a self-motivated researcher who can lead projects, as well as develop new projects. Digital Optics Technologies is dedicated to innovation and continually explores different approaches for novel technologies.
Members of our team must be able to manage workloads between different projects and be open to new work directions.
Minimum Requirements :
- Doctorate degree in engineering, physics, or chemistry and 0+ years of experience
- Experience designing and running tabletop optics experiments
- Extensive knowledge of laser physics and photonics
- Strong technical writing skills
- Willingness to self-manage workloads
Other Desired Qualifications :
- Knowledge of atomic physics and atomic devices such as atom interferometers and atomic clocks
- Nanofabrication experience, especially in fabrication of integrated photonic circuits
- Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics and / or Lumerical simulation software
- 3D CAD modeling experience. Fusion 360 preferred
- Programming experience with LabView, MATLAB, and / or Python
Additional Expectations :
- Must be able to commute. No public transportation is available to the job location.
- Willingness to travel occasionally. Digital Optics Technologies collaborates with Northwestern University and Argonne National Laboratory, and monthly travel to these locations is necessary, with reimbursement for travel expenses.

Pay : $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
