HDR is hiring a Traffic EIT / Designer in our Pensacola, FL office to work as part of a traffic team under the direction of a Project Engineer / Manager on a variety of traffic engineering and planning projects.

This position will support our fast-growing Transportation Planning Section.

Responsibilities :

• Perform transportation planning and related tasks in support of traffic simulation and capacity analyses, development or
• assistance in the development of traffic forecasts from regional travel demand models
• Evaluate multimodal transportation systems and provide detailed and summary results in graphics
• Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro -simulation models;

analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments

• Write reports to clearly communicate analysis results and recommendations and present findings to the team
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering discipline is required
• Engineering Intern (Passed Fundamentals Exam) or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. Until then, the title will be Traffic Coordinator
• Must have a strong interest in the planning and design of complete streets, bicycle and pedestrian planning, and traffic operations
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required for public and client presentations and document preparation
• Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Synchro / Sim Traffic, HCS, AIMSUM, VISSIM, CUBE, VISUM and MicroStation
• Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Conduct traffic design using CAD platformsincluding MicroStation, autoCad and Guide Sign software
• Conduct operational analysisusing a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties,including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM and Aimsun
• Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tolls including Highway SafetySoftware
• Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
