Job Description
This role is responsible for leading a team of Sourcing professionals to drive cost savings and optimize supplier relationships.
The Strategic Sourcing Director is a leadership position that requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record of delivering impactful results in strategic sourcing and procurement.
This role is part of a Hybrid work arrangement based in Raleigh, NC
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following : other duties may be assigned :
Lead the S2C process for the team and drive team to use relevant components for sourcing projects
Build relationships with client groups at all levels including VP and above
Lead a team of sourcing professionals, providing guidance, support and mentorship to ensure high performance and achievement of objectives
Work closely with the VP on the development of policy and goals for the organization
Implement overall strategic sourcing strategies and initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives
Collaborate with cross functional partners across the strategic sourcing team and support teams in the broader organization
Stay updated on best practices, emerging trends, and technologies related to strategic sourcing and procurement
Lead category planning process for the team with the goal of proactively driving long term strategies with client groups across 3rd party spend
Drives engagement with team to ensure execution is in line with sourcing policies and procedures
Develop key performance indicators related to cost savings, quality improvements, and other relevant metrics
Demonstrate negotiation skills while actively coaching the team to use relevant feedback strategies and strategic negotiation skills
QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience in working with complex supply chains, global sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management
Advanced negotiation and contract management abilities, with a proven track record of achieving cost savings and favorable terms
Strong understanding of category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management principles and application
Ability to build effective relationships, influence peers and key stakeholders, and build consensus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills is highly desired
Strong knowledge of current principles, practices, and methods pertaining to sourcing
Strong knowledge of analytics and market research methods
Proficiency in using procurement software and systems to streamline processes
Prior retail experience is strongly preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelor’s degree, with master’s degree or advanced certification (e.g., MBA, CPM, CPSM, CPSC, PMP) preferred
A proven track record of success in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management roles, with a minimum of 10 years of experience
