GEICO is looking for experienced Senior and Principal Engineers with extensive Workday development experience in one or more of the following areas of Workday : HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, Talent, Learning, Compensation, Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence Management.
The Workday Engineer will work directly with key business and IT stakeholders to define business requirements, consider design alternatives, facilitate discussions, and ultimately configure, test, and deploy solutions.
The Engineer will identify improvements within existing functional and technical processes and implement scalable automated solutions.
Position Responsibilities
As a Senior or Principal Engineer, you will :
Participate in the ongoing requirements gathering, design, test, deployment, and maintenance of Workday configuration for new functionality or enhancements.
Troubleshoot and resolve production support issues and resolve defects timely and with exceptional customer service.
Effectively collaborate with internal teams and key business stakeholders to provide support for requests such as enhancements, defects, and new functionality.
Provide support for Workday, including researching, identifying, and resolving Workday issues, unexpected results, and process flaws.
Serve as lead for one or more Workday functional areas including HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, Talent, Learning, Compensation, Payroll, Time Tracking, and / or Absence Management.
Recommend best practices to ensure optimal use of Workday functionality.
Continuously increase technical and industry trend knowledge by participating in Workday Community and other forums, including on-line discussions, brainstorms, voting, training, webinars etc.
Perform data uploads into Workday utilizing Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs).
Participate in Workday’s bi-annual releases.
Mentor junior team members professionally to help them realize their full potential.
Qualifications
Minimum 4+ years of directly related Workday configuration experience in at least one Workday functional area : HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, Talent, Learning, Compensation, Payroll, Time Tracking, and / or Absence Management
Working knowledge of Workday configuration, including business process design and configuration, condition rules, and complex calculated fields
Experience as a Report Writer, with the ability to design and create custom reports and dashboards
Working knowledge of Workday security framework and system integration concepts (APIs, web services, middleware, etc.)
Attention to detail with creative problem-solving skills
Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple and diverse objectives simultaneously
Self-starter with a diligent work ethic and demonstrated flexibility
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
Strong analytical and research skills
Commitment to continual process improvements
Ability to make data-driven recommendations, understand competing business priorities, and drive results to deadlines
Deep understanding of Workday data governance and reporting and / or integration processes, procedures, and best practices
Familiarity with software development lifecycle processes and methodologies
Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
Workday Pro Certifications strongly preferred
Experience
4+ years of professional software development experience with Workday Financials, Workday HCM, and / or Workday integration
3+ years of experience with architecture and design
3+ years experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks, or one of the following : .NET Core, asp.Net, Angular, or Express
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
