SUMMARY
The Production Engineering Supervisor is responsible for planning and tracking all MAHLE production customer projects, maintaining they’re following PDP process for on time delivery to our customers.
The position interfaces with customers, suppliers, and leads the production engineering launch team with respect to all aspects of the process, product, and program management.
The position will supervise all PE’s who’ve been assigned to project teams, developing project plans, facilitating proposals, and working within tight timetables, managing the PDP process according to the Production Engineering RASIC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and develops Production Engineering team at key production facilities; develops, aligns, and implements best practices at each production facility
Lead interfacing for Production Engineering team with plant personnel on key changes within production facilities; must collaborate with Plant Managers, Purchasing, and other key personnel to ensure alignment on production change milestones and timelines
Assign PE personnel to project teams based on launch timing, product type and customer
Supervise all MAHLE Customer projects and ensure the production planning and launch following the MAHLE Product Development Process (PDP).

Other essential duties and responsibilities by the Production Engineering Supervisor :
Ensure the PE’s create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) in internal SAP system. Support any changes to the SAP systems and cascade across the region.
Involvement and approval in the design for manufacturing at the concept phase of each program.
Support the PE team who develops the full production concept with PDP Core Team for projects assigned. Confirm that the production line layout planning, cycle time analysis, safety analysis, investment planning are all following MAHLE timelines and approvals.
Manage the capital and tooling on time delivery for the regional rollup for PDP related projects. This includes the supervision of all forecasting of Appropriation Requests (AR) timing, Purchase Order (PO) timing and Invoice Timing for each project.
Align design of equipment with plant manufacturing team, suppliers, and plant.
Support the regional production and machine capacities & utilization.
Support the procurement and release of means of production for PE project teams.
Maintain production engineering standards across the region.
Manage regional project trial schedule with PE and plant teams. Tooling and Equipment Run offs.
Review any of the quotations in process for engineering design changes after Customer Process Approval
Create transparency of the PE team progress and ensure proper reporting.
Support IPA in plant sign offs to ensure proper readiness for launch.
Supervise the make or buy decisions using calculations with cost planning team.
Review design modifications and cost calculation benefits.
Review and inspire the application of new production technologies, initiate, and monitor production trials and analyze results.
Develop, coordinate, introduce and monitor measures to improve economic ratio and to improve production technologies.
Review and approve the released production concept and process (including IPA, work instructions for relevant processes, ensure training of operators, organize supply chain and release supplier logistics).

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree Mechanical, Industrial, or related engineering field from an accredited four-year college or university is required;
Masters degree is a plus
10 or more years of relevant Engineering experience or equivalent role within the automotive industry is required
Demonstrated experience leading projects or a team is highly desired
Proven understanding & successful application of Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies including Lean and Six Sigma is required
Proficiency in general base automotive technical knowledge and vehicular such as filtration systems, HVAC, powertrains, vehicle testing, and MAHLE’s product suite is preferred
Familiarity with OEM product development systems and processes is required
Experience in plastics / metals and assembly design is preferred
Ability to manage multiple short and long-term project teams with multiple work streams or departments to successful completion is required
Software skills : strong competency in Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required; prior experience in SAP preferred
Experience with SAP global trade services (GTS) module is strongly preferred
Up to 25% International and domestic travel by plane and car is required
