Sourcing Specialist

Location : Framingham, Massachusetts

Compensation Range : $30 - 32 per hour

Our client, a leading name in the fashion and retail industry, is looking for a dedicated Sourcing Specialist to join their team and help elevate product offerings to new heights!

As a Sourcing Specialist in Product Development (PD), you'll go beyond merely sourcing materials; you'll be instrumental in identifying and partnering with agents and countries to produce our client's premium products.

Your role will be crucial in driving the direct import apparel programs under the guidance of management, ensuring the seamless integration of quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate is passionate about the dynamic world of fashion sourcing and has a knack for finding the best quality at the right price!

Responsibilities :

• Source direct import apparel programs with direction from management.
• Create and maintain comprehensive costing spreadsheets.
• Negotiate effectively to secure the best quality, price, and delivery.
• Collaborate with overseas agents and Product Development teams to establish realistic timelines.
• Recommend factories capable of producing the desired quality.
• Stay informed about duty and freight charges.
• Monitor current global issues that may impact the business.
• Coordinate the efficient submission of costing packages to agents and vendors.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with agents and vendors through timely and effective communication.
• Attend development meetings to align closely with Product Development teams and Buyers.
• Work on fabrication consolidation when appropriate to improve pricing and meet minimums.
• Gain Buyer's trust through confirming programs with reputable resources while maintaining or improving margin requirements.
• Collaborate with Buyers and Product Managers to enhance the styling, quality, and value of garments.
• Assist in resolving issues and negotiations during price discussions with Buyers and Product Managers.
• Provide the required documentation to onboard new vendors and factories for internal teams.
• Participate in home office vendor visits to explore new business opportunities.
• Make recommendations that directly impact company profitability through price negotiations and order placement.

Qualifications :

• Experience level : Experienced
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
• A solid grasp of apparel importing / merchandising principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, especially pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• 3-5 years of experience in overseas product development / sourcing or buying experience with direct imports.
