Job Title : GIS Analyst
Location : Mostly remote with occasional onsite visits required
Job Description :
As a GIS Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and functionality of our electric utility infrastructure data within our Geospatial Information System (GIS).
You will collaborate with various teams to model and validate data, ensuring it complies with our standards and specifications.
Your work will directly contribute to critical systems that enable field operations and customer-facing applications.
Key Responsibilities :
- Coordinate the creation of catalog data for electric utility infrastructure, collaborating with engineers, field personnel, and warehouse personnel.
- Ensure accurate and timely modeling of electric utility infrastructure by coordinating with designers, engineers, and field personnel.
- Coordinate programming activities for geospatial applications, including design, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Research and interpret source records and documents to maintain data accuracy.
- Analyze GIS business processes, develop alternatives, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Handle requests for information from internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop GIS analysis and mapping products based on user requirements.
- Assist with upgrades and implementation of new geospatial technology.
- Communicate and interface with IT and user communities.
- Conduct initial quality control to ensure data accuracy.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
- 4-7 years of experience as a senior Business Analyst (Technical) or in a related field.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the electric utility sector.
- Proficiency in GIS software.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience with GE's GIS SmallWorld Electric Office software.
- Experience working as a GIS Analyst in an Electric Utility.
