Our client is currently seeking a Staff Engineer
Job Description : ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Responsible for contributing to the design, analysis, and implementation of various engineering projects.
Works closely with Senior Engineers assisting in the creation of engineering designs, conducting analyses, data processing, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and budgets.
Additional responsibilities include tasks ranging from technical documentation and research to project coordination and modeling as well as developing estimates, tracking project costs, and implementing close out procedures.
The Engineer I participates in project planning and execution by attending meetings, coordinating activities, developing project documentation and visiting job sites.
Responsible for maintaining a commitment to ongoing professional development by staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices.
DUTIES MAY INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING :
Collaborate with Senior Engineers and other Artesian staff in the design, analysis, and evaluation of engineering systems, components, and processes.
This may involve using software tools, conducting simulations, and performing calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and reports. Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation to facilitate project communication and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Review and prepare project budgets and schedules. Provide pre-planning and resource forecasting for the engineering and operations departments relating to the projects.
- Work independently to produce engineering design plans and specifications as part of a project team working on water / wastewater engineering projects.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during the course of projects. Work collaboratively with team members to develop and implement effective solutions while adhering to project constraints and timelines.
- Research across a variety of subjects and disciplines followed by development of reports or presentations to communicate findings.
- Collecting data, reducing data, analyzing alternative solutions and then preparing and writing reports and design documents to support conclusions.
- Coordinate and manage aspects of construction projects submittals, deliverables, reviews and approvals against contract requirements.
- Coordinate with the GIS and Survey departments to attain data (including but not limited to existing topographic and location information, boundary and record plans, for planning, design and permitting of projects.
- Request and evaluate proposals from various consultants and contractors.
- As new development plans are received from outside consultants and engineers, provide the necessary technical reviews and checking of engineering design calculations to ensure compliance with Artesian Standards and Specifications.
- Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills and knowledge in relevant engineering disciplines.
This may involve attending training programs, obtaining certifications, pursuing a PE License and staying informed about industry trends and best practices.
- Assist with the development and implementation of standard operating procedures to improve the organization and efficiency of the Engineering Department.
- Interact with and provide information to key regulatory agencies.
- Maintain a sound working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations.
- Perform on-call assistance during emergencies and when projects have a critical schedule to accomplish.
- Perform any and all other appropriate functions as required. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a 4-year ABET accredited curriculum or a BS in either Chemistry or Physics.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in the States of Delaware and Maryland is preferred.
- Must be proficient in use of a personal computer.
- Must possess the ability to work independently and solve complex engineering problems using sound judgment and education.
- Demonstrates the ability to understand and analyze data and reach sound technical conclusions in a timely manner.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
Walking and climbing are required to perform fieldwork. The ability to manipulate a keyboard is required for computer operation and preparing correspondence.
Speaking, hearing, reading and writing are necessary to effectively communicate with staff and other departments along with the preparation of reports.
Visual acuity is required for analyzing data and figures and using a personal computer. Responsibilities require advanced thought processes and learning abilities to permit the development of plans and courses of action from complex alternatives.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL EFFORT : Requires the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT : Position requires activities to be performed in a climate-controlled office environment in addition to outside environmental conditions.
