Job Description

SUMMARY OF JOB :

The Consultant (EIT) will apply scientific methodology to investigate matters, but not limited to, materials, components, products, and structures.

The EIT will be called upon to assist engineers and experts to isolate the specific reason or reasons a material, component, products, and / or structure have failed.

Forensic Experts often are used in property or liability cases to investigate and testify about the cause of a failure or accident.

Some assignments may include the analysis of building property damage cause and origin, personal injuries, and design / installation issues related to design / construction, roofing, exterior facades, catastrophic claims, and geotechnical areas.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Apply technical skills to conduct in-depth technical research concerning material specifications, weather data, local code requirements, and structural repair protocol.
  • Contribute to the investigation of an incident, including but not limited to, collection of evidence, documentation of site conditions, site measurements / quantities, photography of all components related to the claim.
  • Work with the Team Lead / mentor to write reports based on investigative findings.
  • Travel to required location(s) for either site inspection, trial witness requirements, or client meetings.
  • Assist consultants with marketing efforts and matter-related work on an as needed basis.
  • Stays abreast of office and company policies, procedures, and practices; participates in ongoing training and development as assigned or approved to assure knowledge and skills remain current and comprehensive.
  • Adheres to all applicable state insurance regulation requirements and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural Engineers is required.

3+) relevant experience as an Engineer-In-Training is required.

  • Strong technological skills and mathematical reasoning
  • Strong written and oral expression and comprehension
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability with the ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Collaborative work style
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in a work capacity.
  • Must be able and willing to work at heights, climb ladders, and follow all safety guidelines.
  • Ability to travel 25-30% - travel is mainly local with occasional overnight trips
