Description
STRIDE Community Health Center is a 501(c)(3) Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a 30-year history of providing primary care and other health-related services in a community-based setting.
Established in 1989 in response to the primary health care needs of the medically indigent population in suburban Denver, STRIDE Community Health Center has one of the largest population bases of any FQHC in Colorado and provides primary care, dental, pharmacy, behavioral health, health education, care coordination, patient navigation, pharmacy, and outreach and enrollment services in accordance with its mission.
Certified Nurse Midwife
What will you be doing in this role? A successful candidate will :
General Purpose : In order to ensure quality healthcare services, the Certified Nurse Midwife provides direct patient care to women, which includes gynecologic, prenatal, and postpartum care.
Additionally, the CNM provides clinical leadership to other providers around perinatal services.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
- Follows evidenced-based practice guidelines and standards of care.
- Provides direct patient care to women from menarche to end of life.
- Evaluates and treats patients for gynecologic, prenatal, and postpartum concerns.
- Provides family planning and contraceptive services.
- Performs newborn assessment at first post-birth appointment.
- Arranges referrals and consultation for patients with healthcare needs beyond the scope of practice.
- Coordinates group visits as needed for womens health education sessions.
- Communicates and coordinates with hospitals for scheduling inductions and cesareans as needed.
- Reviews labs and ultrasound reports and develops a plan of care when abnormal.
- Prescribes medications to patients, including counseling patients regarding the proper use and contraindications of medications as well as detect and diagnose adverse drug reactions.
- Evaluates medical charts to determine appropriate patient care follow up and education.
- Accurately and completely charts information regarding patient interactions into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Works within and supports a team based and integrated care model, which includes medical assistants, other medical specialties, dental, behavioral health, patient navigation, and care coordination.
Non-Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Attends clinic meetings, specialty meetings, provider meetings, all staff meetings, and all other meetings as assigned.
- Helps determine topics of interest for specialty meetings to evaluate the quality and efficiency of women patient care needs.

Qualifications
A successful candidate will possess the following education or formal training :
Education or Formal Training :
- Masters in nursing from an accredited Nurse Midwifery Program.
- Certified in Nurse Midwifery.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in Colorado.
A successful candidate will possess experience :
Experience : Previous experience as a nurse midwife in a clinical setting is preferred.
Knowledge, skill and ability :
- Demonstrated knowledge in primary care specialty.
- Ability to interact positively and build rapport with patients, coworkers and / or external contacts.
- Ability to demonstrate the capability to effectively and sensitively respond to the needs and concerns of the full range of STRIDEs diverse patient population.
- Ability to work independently and organize work in a manner that ensures accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to collaborate with other providers and clinical staff to develop continual quality improvement procedures.
- Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of patient, employee and business information.
- Skill in using a variety of computer software including but not limited to the internetand MS Office Products.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Material and equipment directly used : Computer, printer, multi-line telephone systems, fax machine, copy machine, Microsoft Office Outlook, the internet and EHR.
General medical equipment used for patient care.
Working environment / physical activities : Office environment within a clinical setting. Enters patient data into computer programs via use of EMR database system, mouse and keyboard.
Moves about the office environment and occasionally to other locations. Communicates information to others. Discerns / analyzes and synthesizes information from others to assist in decision making.
