The Nutrition Manager provides nutritional counseling and education that meets the needs of an aging population in a continuing care retirement setting.
Actively manages and assists dietary staff’s day-to-day function and processes to provide outstanding food service and nutrition care.
Assists in the planning of diets, menus, and the preparation and serving of regular, therapeutic and mechanically altered diets.
The incumbent participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team in the assessment of individual resident needs and as part of the dining services team in the decision making process.
Pay :
95,000.00 - 105,000.00
We are looking for a registered dietitian to work 20 hours a week at Emerald Heights! We are VERY flexible with the schedule.

Primary Responsibilities :
- Develops comprehensive assessments and care plans for the dietary needs of each Corwin resident including likes and dislikes.
- Reviews and revises care plans and assessments as changes occur but not less than quarterly.
- Ensures charted dietary progress notes and care plans are informative and descriptive.
- Completes section K of the MDS and the associated CAAs in accordance with policy.
- Works directly with physicians and nurse practitioners regarding supplemental nutritional needs.
- Refers residents with chewing or swallowing concerns to the Director of Nursing Services and speech therapy.
- Observes residents in the dining room to assess, educate and provide encouragement.
- Develops checklists and programs to ensure food service quality assurance. Ensures all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements are met.
- Attends Plan of Care meetings for all skilled nursing residents and Assisted Living residents.
- Monitors weights of residents to assist in maintenance of ideal body weight including coordination of interdisciplinary meeting to address any concerns.
- Observes meal service to ensure proper portions, accuracy of special diets, and individual preferences are being followed in accordance with plan of care.
- Provides nutritional assessment and education for all residents upon admission to the Assisted Living and upon receipt of updated physician orders.
Ensures residents understand their therapeutic and / or modified diets.
- Enters resident dietary information into the nutritional software database. Updates when resident dietary information changes.
- Offers introductory nutritional education to all new residents in Independent Living upon move-in. Provides ongoing continued nutritional education as needed or requested.
- Coordinates menu development with the Executive Chef to ensure required nutritional analysis and therapeutic and texture modifications within established guidelines.
- Conducts food safety and sanitation inspections for all kitchens that produce food. Reports results to Dining Services leadership team.
- Ensures dietary service work areas and food storage is maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
- Maintains and manages the inventory for adaptive dining supplies required by residents.
- Participates in weekly wound rounds with Nursing Service’s leadership.
- Participates in Quality Assurance process and meetings.
Managerial Duties :
Completes all annual staff performance appraisal forms, directly or through subordinates; delivers to Human Resources through department head by due date.
Meets with staff members on an ongoing and continual basis to review performance and provide feedback, guidance and instruction needed.
- Selects candidates, trains, assigns and supervises staff, directly or through subordinates. Ongoing evaluation of performance of staff, initiates disciplinary action and consults with Human Resources regarding employee issues.
- Plans for and recommends space, staffing, training and equipment needed to meet resident needs and / or to provide other services.
Needs are demonstrated by budget, goals and objectives, reports and other departmental records.
- Prepares annual budget to provide appropriate level of care and establish financial goals. Justifies assumptions used in compilation.
- Participates in applicable committees and meetings as required.
- Completes required in-services.
- Responds to internal and external communication timely and appropriately utilizing customer service approach.
- Promotes a teamwork mentality throughout all aspects of position.
- Assume additional duties in the absence of Dietary supervisor.
- Communication and support of campus wide initiatives and goals to staff level to ensure all employees are aware of the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
- Develops & implements departmental policies & procedures.
- Supports employee Safety programs and initiatives, ensuring no lost time caused by work related injuries
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree in food or nutrition.
- Registered Dietician with current license in Washington.
- Previous experience with older adults in a healthcare or retirement setting.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Excellent English communications skills both verbal and written.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a long term care facility preferred.
- Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist clients and coworkers. Ability to problem solve.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer applications related to job.
- Excellent organizational skills, able to perform under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records preferred
