Dynamic Opportunity
As a full-time employee, working 37.5 hours per week, the Residence Counselor provides counseling, guidance, and advocacy to clients with behavioral health issues who reside in multiple residential settings.
This position plays a critical role in helping clients achieve their treatment goals by offering consistent support and care.
The Guidance Center
For over 60 years, The Guidance Center has served as a primary mental health support agency for the greater Cumberland County, NJ area.
Our non-profit organization consists of dedicated professionals, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff, who work together to provide compassionate, professional care for individuals and families experiencing mental health challenges.
We are deeply committed to helping our community members navigate the complexities of mental illness and improve their quality of life.
What the Position Involves
A Residence Counselor is responsible for maintaining detailed records of client progress and activities, assisting in the development and implementation of social, recreational, and educational programs, and effectively communicating observations to the treatment team.
In addition, the Residence Counselor will accompany and transport clients to community resources as needed and provide essential on-site services and support.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus four years of related work or life experience
- Knowledge of community resources and local agencies
- Valid driver's license with MVR that meets agency standards
What We Offer
- Shifts : 4 : 00 PM to 12 : 00 AM, 12 : 00 AM to 8 : 00 AM, and 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM (typically on weekends)
- Competitive salary with a 10% wage increase for hours worked between 12 : 00 AM and 8 : 00 AM
