Job Description
Operates Nuclear Medicine apparatus and auxiliary equipment. Performs diagnostic scans and produces outputs to film / workstation for physician interpretation.
Maintains and cleans equipment.
Job Responsibility
- Prepares, measures, calibrates, and administers radioactive isotopes in therapeutic and diagnostic tracer doses under physicians' orders, utilizing a variety of nuclear medicine equipment.
- Performs diagnostic imaging procedures (planar and SPECT), utilizing a variety of nuclear medicine gamma cameras.
- Inputs patient information into a dedicated nuclear medicine computer.Processes computerized patient information.
- Measures radioactive isotope uptake in patients, using non-imaging techniques.
- Performs quality control procedures on equipment, using standardized radioactive sources and techniques.
- Performs in vitro nuclear medicine laboratory procedures, i.e., blood volumes, Schilling tests.
- Responsible for kit preparation, including quality control procedures of the radiopharmaceuticals, eluding the technetium generator, and the documentation of all required information.
- Prepares radioactive waste material for disposal.
- Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification
Must attain the following within one (1) year of employment.Registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
AND / ORCertification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Board.
- Current New York State License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, required.
- BLS certification, required.
- Familiarity with standard nuclear medicine procedures, instruments and equipment, required.
- Knowledge of computer applications applicable to nuclear medicine procedures, required.
