Day to Day :
A client of ours is looking for a BIM Modeler / Designer to join their Midwest Design Center. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for developing 3D models and producing drawings in CAD based on these models for hydraulic structures including locks, dams, levees, guide walls, bridges, and other infrastructure.
The BIM Modeler / Designer will be an integral part of a team that is nationally known for their expertise in inland navigation, flood control, and coastal protection structures.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of CAD experience and 3+ years of experience utilizing BIM software (Revit or OpenBuildings).
This position will require routine visits throughout the assignment so the ideal candidate must be open to occasional travel.
As a BIM Modeler / Designer, you will proactively engage with project managers and design engineers to ensure timely project completion within allocated budgets, which may include occasional overtime work.
You will assist structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering staff in developing complex preliminary and final designs of hydraulic structures.
Analyzing complex sketches, notes, and other input to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete models and drawings will be a key part of your role, with support from senior CAD team members.
You will develop 3D models of project features using CADD software and coordinate with Tetra Tech CAD Managers to implement project-specific CAD standards.
Setting up project drawings to conform to client standards and implementing additional material data through Parts and Families or Instance Data Catalogs to meet project specifications will be crucial for producing Product Schedules and Quantity Reports, which you will also maintain.
Effective communication with engineers and other CAD team members, as well as utilizing CAD best practices and QA / QC procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency, are essential aspects of this role.
