Assistant Director, Academic Programs
The Opportunity :
The University of Central Florida (UCF) Academic Advancement Programs (AAP) office is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Director, Academic Programs position.
The Assistant Director for Pre-Health and Pre-Law (PHPL) is responsible for encouraging students to make conscious and thoughtful plans about their future post-baccalaureate professional school educational pursuits.
This position will provide leadership in collaboration with the Director to maintain, develop and enhance continuous pre-professional programs, and create robust program evaluation systems to inform continuous quality improvement aimed at fostering program excellence.
Additionally, this position carries responsibilities that are university-wide in scope serving all Pre-Health and Pre-Law students from all undergraduate majors at UCF.
Responsibilities :
Assist in the creation, development, and maintenance of a series of workshops and / or webcourses aimed at teaching Pre-Health and Pre-Law students how to prepare and apply to their health professional schools and programs.
Partner with students to develop a plan of progression to ensure students are on track to complete their Pre-Professional coursework in a timely fashion and to assist in their development to become competitive applicants to professional schools.
Supervise the coordinator position which oversees / manages the coordination of a variety of PHPL services such as workshops, webinars, orientations, and outreach events.
Explain and / or clarify academic policies and procedures, assist in the career development and major exploration process, and maintain appropriate meeting records.
Initiates, implements, designs, coordinates, and assesses programs and policies related to PHPL.
Develop and implement formative and summative assessment measures such as surveys, and track student contact data for use in annual reports, institutional effectiveness, and other assessment reports.
Extensive data collection, analysis, and assessment of office activities. Specifically, the Assistant Director will coordinate the office's use of myKnight STAR and assist with the development of descriptive statistics regarding UCF student applications, acceptances, and matriculations to various health professional schools and law schools.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience with at least 1+ year(s) of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
Preferred Qualifications :
Ability to present information about the PHPL program, write effectively, and communicate well.
Ability to analyze and achieve logical conclusions promptly.
Proven ability to grasp and communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with a variety of constituencies including administrators, students, and faculty.
Proficiency in researching, analyzing, and interpreting diverse information from a wide range of sources.
