Shipping & Receiving Coordinator

General Description :

This position will be responsible for all shipping and receiving of packages / merchandise at the Athletics warehouse / loading dock facility.

The position will act as the liaison for all shipping and receiving needs within the Athletics Department. This position will directly work with all shipping companies including but not limited to FedEx, UPS, DHL Express, etc.

and to manage the warehouse / loading dock area ensuring that all items are logged and properly stored.

This position will also be responsible for monitoring all Athletics inventory items listed within the University of Tennessee IRIS database system and will ensure compliance to inventory process and procedures that are set by the University of Tennessee.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Manage the warehouse & loading dock facility for the Athletics Department.
• Document and track items that are shipped and received with shipping companies.
• Oversees daily distribution of received shipments to staff / sports / units within Athletics.
• Prepare and process shipping labels and packages for departmental outbound shipments.
• Liaison within the Department to manage any shipping / receive issues with carriers and staff / sports / units.
• Responsible for maintaining Athletics Department inventory items listed within the University of Tennessee IRIS database system.
• Conducts annual audit and review of the Athletics Department inventory items per University policy.
• Locates, tags, and documents Athletics Department inventory items as needed.
• Determines and executes inventory items to be routed to the University Surplus Property program.
• Supervisors, trains, and prepares daily task schedules for 8·12 student workers and / or interns.
• Monitors students working on projects and day-to day maintenance
• Trains students on how to operate machinery and tools properly needed for certain projects
• Guides students in the on how to do jobs properly and effectively
• Schedules students to work while making time for their class schedules, tests, presentations, and other scholastic requirements
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

Education :

High School Diploma or GED is required; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Experience :

Experience operating a forklift is required. Experience working with inventory systems and shipping / receiving programs and carriers is required.

Skills :

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Outlook. Ability to create and generate spreadsheets and other inventory control and reporting processes required.

Working knowledge of the SAP GUI Inventory Control System preferred. Must be able to personally lift up to 75 lbs.
