Job Description : Principal Mechanical Engineer
Overview : Join our client's team as an NPI principal mechanical engineer, where you will be responsible for the design and development of class I & II medical devices.
You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to support the production of their new line. The company’s portfolio includes specialty surgical tables for procedure-specific approaches that improve patient outcomes in spine and orthopedic surgeries along with disposable and reusable surgical patient care products.
Key Responsibilities :
- Participate in electro-mechanical projects, interior architecture design of electro-electrical components, and exterior enclosure design.
- Sub-system design for large robotic capital equipment.
- Conduct hardware design and testing to meet IEC medical safety and EMC standards in compliance with federal regulations.
- Translate product requirements into innovative technical specifications and design solutions.
- PCB and sub-system integration.
- Design user-actuated mechanisms and electro-mechanical drive trains to articulate these structures to optimize patient positioning, surgical access, and applied traction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience REQUIRED - (medical device development experience highly preferred)
- Proven expertise in mechanical design and medical device development, specifically focusing on capital equipment.
- Proficiency in electromechanical design including motor selection, couplings, bearings, gearbox design, drivetrain integration, sensor integration, and / or electronics packaging.
- Familiarity with mechanism design including cams, linkages, actuators, mechanical attachments, and jigs and fixtures.
- Designing and integrating PCB / PCAs into electro-mechanical devices is highly preferred.
