Position Description : SUMMARY OF POSITION : The Assistant Group Leader will partner with his / her assigned Group Leader to manage and engage a group of 15students daily in homework, enrichment, recreation activities & performances.

The Assistant Group Leader will support with teaching, nurturing, and encouraging our students to perform at a highstandard by setting a positive, engaging, and fun tone.

  • The Assistant Group Leader will support with planning and leading quality project-based activities.The Assistant Group Leader will help ensure the safety of students;
  • help anticipate and resolve conflict; assist the GroupLeader with reporting all incidents accurately and on time.The Assistant Group Leader will help supervise snack and homework time;
  • maintaining the overall condition of theclassroom; collaborating with the Group Leader, with other after-school staff and teachers;

interacting with parents atdismissal; and participating in monthly staff meetings and workshops.This position reports to the Group Leader and Program Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Supporting program systems including attendance, incentives, safety procedures, dedicated events, etc.

forexample, monitoring participants during arrival, transitions and ensuring that participants have been signed outby parent / guardian at dismissal.

Support Group Leaders with managing participants positively and supportively. Provide other administrative support for the program as delegated by Program Director or Assistant ProgramDirector.

Must be punctual, dependable, and maintain professional communication among co-workers, students, andparents for the successful operation of the program.

Assistant Group Leader must participate and complete monthly staff meetings and 30 hours of DOHmandated training as required.

Assist children with homework, enrichment & recreation activities & performances. Ensure that program areas are neat and clean, supplies and equipment are put away in an orderly manner.

Build positive relationships with youth and adults. Serve as a role model for all program participants, demonstrate positive communication and behaviors.

The candidate should possess the following skills : Must be able to work together with peers and others Ability to collaborate effectively with other after school staff Excellent written and spoken communication skills (Bilingual ability in Spanish is a plus) Commitment to fostering a student-centered, safe, respectful, and productive environment for all participants,families, and school partners Quick Learner Ability to adapt and or adjust to program needs Be active and stand at periods of time Technology Savvy Knowledgeable of Math & ELA concepts for Grade Levels K-5 Knowledgeable Background of Visual Arts & Performing ArtsEDUCATION / WORK REQUIREMENTS : Minimum of 1 years of Professional Work experience H.

S. Diploma Preferred but not required Energetic, Willing to learn, Positive Role Model, Punctual, Creative, Able to follow directions.

Able to commit for entire school year (August-June) At least 18yrs or older. Background in Visual Arts, Computers or Performing Arts is a Plus.

Must successfully Pass DOH (Dept. of Health) State Fingerprint Clearance Must successfully Pass SCR (Statewide Central Registry Clearance) Must successfully Pass SEL (Staff Exclusion List Clearance) Must have up-to-date medical within the last 6 months incl.

TB Shot with results.LANGUAGE SKILLS : Possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret Program Manual, Daily Program Updates and SACC (School Age ChildCare) Regulations Ability to effectively respond to questions from groups of managers, students, and parents.

Possessthe Ability to understand Basic / Intermediate K-5 ELA (Spelling, Definitions, Sentences, and Word Stories).MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Knowledgeable of Basic / Intermediate K-5 Math (Division, Multiplication, Fractions, Graphs, Problem Solving Math Sentences)REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and ask questions when assistance is needed.

Ability to interpret a variety ofinstructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Possess the ability to use discretion and exhibit animportant level of confidentiality.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Ability to perform physical sport-based activities such as run relays, softball, stretching, and incorporate activemovement throughout supervision.

Must be able to stand for at least 30 minutes at a time to conduct and engage youthin physical activities. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
