Job Description

UOEEE is seeking a Management Information Analyst to assist in developing, evaluating and analyzing information for management and procedural decisions.

Under general supervision, this position coordinates institutional assessment initiatives; supports the development and use of assessment platforms, tools and resources;

delivers training and support; and contributes to a positive culture of assessment at ASU. This position reports to the University Office of Evaluation and Educational Effectiveness (UOEEE) Associate Director of Assessment.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated to investigate patterns and trends in assessment data to develop reports and improve training resources for faculty and staff.

Essential Duties

Administrative

  • Works closely with the Director and Associate Director of Assessment and other university officials in planning, overseeing, implementing, and evaluating ASU assessment processes and practices, including academic program and general education assessment.
  • Supports a culture of assessment across the diverse range of offerings and disciplines at ASU.
  • Stays abreast of national trends in higher education assessment, institutional effectiveness, and accreditation through readings, workshops and professional development.
  • Recruits, supervises, leads, trains and monitors the activities of student interns.

Technical (Portal, Watermark and Dashboards)

  • Sets up projects in the Watermark assessment management software system; retrieves and redacts artifacts in preparation for scoring.
  • Assists in developing assessment dashboards; evaluates assessment plans for dashboard readiness.
  • Conducts troubleshooting and assists in performing updates and annual turnover for the Assessment Portal.
  • Assists in the ongoing development and revision of the institutions assessment website and Canvas course, tools, and resources (handbooks, videos, etc.).

Data and Report Writing

  • Compiles, analyzes, and summarizes assessment data. Creates and maintains databases utilizing various computer programming languages or user-oriented software, such as SPSS, SQL, or SAS.
  • Writes technical reports and presentations in a clear and concise manner, using graphical tools as needed to represent data.
  • Prepares administrative and accreditation reports, and produces assessment newsletters.
  • Utilizes various computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; Slack.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on program assessment plans and reports, resolves assessment-related problems through written or verbal correspondence, and ensures assessment practices meet university and accreditation standards.

Training and Workshops

  • Delivers training, presentations and workshops, and facilitates formal / informal information sharing around assessment.
  • Provides training, guidance, and support to users of ASUs Assessment Portal and Watermark assessment management system.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of social science research design, methodologies, and statistics.
  • Knowledge of basic project management.
  • Knowledge in uploading and downloading data between different platforms.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques of continuous process improvement.
  • Skill in mainframe and microcomputer applications spreadsheets, databases, data analysis, word processing, presentations).
  • Skill in graphical presentation of data.
  • Skill in website development.
  • Skill in research design including : data collection, analysis, and development of recommendations and / or alternative solutions.
  • Ability to utilize effective verbal and written communication skills, including training, interpersonal, teambuilding, presentation skills and report writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders across the university.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills related to analysis and determining solutions.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience to anticipate, forecast, and develop strategies to achieve objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years of experience in research, information analysis or program evaluation;

OR, Any equivalent combination of education and / or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Masters degree in a related field with program evaluation, data analysis and social science research methodologies.
  • Experience in coordinating / managing projects and in meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Evidence of strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation, email, and statistical software.
  • Experience in using LMS and assessment management software Canvas and Watermark).
  • Experience in analyzing and summarizing quantitative and qualitative data in narrative and graphical / tabular formats.
  • Experience in providing support and / or coordinating with colleagues / clients outside the department.
  • Experience in delivering presentations, workshops, instruction, and / or training in a professional setting.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience in designing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating programs.
  • Experience in communicating complex information effectively (written / verbal form) to a variety of audiences, including university and external constituents.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with individuals at multiple levels, in diverse roles, and with diverse perspectives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in assessing student learning in a higher education setting, including assessment systems, theories, practices, analytic techniques, and related current literature.
  • Experience with assessing learning outcomes, program evaluation, accreditation, curriculum and / or institutional effectiveness in a higher education setting.

Working Environment

Our office is located at ASUs University Center Building B (UNCTRB), E University Dr. Tempe, AZ .

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and / or are subject to resolution of conflicts;
