As an accredited public health department, we're seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Associate General Counsel to join the Office of General Counsel.

The incumbent will report directly to the General Counsel and serve as an employment law specialist for the agency.

Job Responsibilities

• Advises DPH state office on labor and employment law matters.
• Manages employment investigations and other employee relations matters and works independently to develop cases through the EEOC’s and the GCEO’s administrative process and informal investigation.
• Drafts policies, procedures, and related resources to assist leadership in performance improvement.
• Provides training for human resources staff and others on employment law and compliance issues.
• Drafts memoranda, forms, letters, notices, and other legal documents as requested.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable state and federal statutes and regulations.
• Reviews and analyzes proposed legislation and assist with drafting and revising department rules and regulations.
• Assists with legal research and analysis to support different programs within DPH as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the DPH General Counsel.

Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university and licensed to practice law in Georgia, and which includes four (4) years in a managerial role in job-related legal experience.
